Biography
Being involved in the design of over 30 feature film and TV productions has led me to gain unique insight from some brilliant directors and production designers. Projects include THE WEE MAN (Ray Burdis), ALIEN COVENANT (Dir. Ridley Scott), PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: Salazar's Revenge (Dir’s. Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg), MR SELFRIDGE Season 2, OASIS (Dir. Kevin Macdonald) and VANITY FAIR (Dir. Mira Nair). More recent credits include feature film BLACKLIGHT (Dir. Mark Williams) starring Liam Neeson, THE AMBUSH (Dir. Pierre Morel) and THE WILDS Season 2 for Amazon Studios.
My design career began with an undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) where I majored in Production Design for Film and Television. Graduating with a distinction for a cinematic design thesis began my journey in the film industry.
Proficient skills in architectural drawing, 3D Design and concept visualisation enabled a quick upward trajectory as a Draughtsperson and Set Designer. I also spent several years as a Set Decorator, this experience led me perfectly into my roles as an Art Director, Supervising Art Director and Production Designer. THE WEE MAN, directed by Ray Burdis starring Patrick Bergin and Martin Compston was my first feature as Production Designer and won a BAFTA Scotland Award.
A collaborator who enjoys the exchange of working in a team and with other departments, I value effective communication. The design qualification has equipped me with skills to manage the design, build and delivery of large-scale set constructions. Highly organised and intuitive, I am able to balance competing demands. I have been responsible for crewing several art departments from scratch in various countries as well as managing the budget. Whether I am working on a large studio picture or a smaller independent, my attention to the detail is the same. I strive for creative, resourceful and inventive solutions.
I am based in London where I have lived for twenty years. The various international locations I have worked include UK/Ireland, Europe (Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungry) China, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand and Australia (where I was born). In addition to English, I speak Italian. I am an affiliated member of The British Film Designers Guild.
Driven to create inspiring and dynamic environments, that express a unique telling of a story and vision, I am mesmerised by the powerful way cinema can transport us. It is a wonderful thing to work in a team that brings a collective imagination to life. My lucky job is to help create the magic!
