Belinda Cusmano is a London-based Production Designer and Art Director with a career spanning film, high-end television and commercials. A visual artist at heart, she is driven by a unique way of seeing — always searching for that visual gem that unlocks a story and brings it to life on screen
Australian born to Italian parents, she came to production design through a deep love of space, architecture and storytelling. Her career grew from the ground up — from Set Designer and Set Decorator through Art Director and Supervising Art Director into Production Design — giving her an understanding of how a production works from the inside out across all departments. She thrives on the challenge of manipulating environments to serve the story, particularly when resources are limited.
Her first feature as Production Designer was The Wee Man, directed by Ray Burdis — a gritty Scottish crime drama set in the 1990s that earned a BAFTA Scotland Award. Most recently she production designed Dreaming Whilst Black Season 2 (Adjani Salmon) for A24 and the BBC, helping shape a sharp, vibrant visual world that matched the wit and energy of the writing, earning the series three RTS Programme Award nominations in 2026.
Her broader credits include Alien: Covenant (Ridley Scott), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Rønning & Sandberg), Blacklight (Mark Williams), Vanity Fair (Mira Nair), Oasis (Kevin Macdonald), Mr Selfridge Season 2 and The Wilds Season 2 — work spanning Disney, 20th Century Fox, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, BBC and A24.
Alongside her screen work, she has art directed high-end commercials for global brands including Nike, Burberry and Qatar Airways.
Deeply intuitive, fast and resourceful, her talent for drawing — from concept sketches and 3D design and rendering to detailed construction drawings — means ideas are communicated rapidly and a vision is never lost in translation. She brings fluency across practical set builds, VFX pipelines and virtual production, embracing cutting-edge technology and evolving tools that allow for a seamless workflow across all departments.
Fluent in Italian and long based in London, she has led art departments across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and beyond. She is an affiliated member of the British Film Designers Guild.
